Festina lente. Coreografías lentas para cámaras rápidas

2020

Video

An exercise on looking and the politics of the gaze, Festina lente, a Latin expression meaning “make haste slowly”, invites reflection on the pace of perception, process, and memory. Composed entirely of personal archival materials, the video weaves together everyday images, memories, and fragments from past performances in which the artist appears. The work meditates on how the gaze, as a bodily experience, shapes our sense of time and constructs our memory of the world we live in.

Originally conceived as ten 15-second video loops, Festina lente was presented as a single-channel adaptation by Contigo en la Distancia, Mexico’s Ministry of Culture digital program, SACPC.
