Choreo-sound landscapes (2019-ongoing) is a research project that delves into the possibilities of the corporality of sound and the resonance of the body from spatiality, in relation to sound and material qualities of several spaces and natural contexts. This long-term project is carried out by the Sociedad del Paisaje, directed by Sendic Vázquez, with the collaboration of Iliana Olalde and Fermín Martínez.
SoundCheck / Prueba <el Sonido> (2019) is the first production of [Paisajes Coreo-Sonoros]. This live performance uses a "soundcheck" as a performance act that seeks tuning of the body and the sound equipment as an "stage act". For this, we collected direct sound recordings in Cumbres del Ajusco National Park and El Tepozteco National Park. In counterpart of the recordings in ecological environments, we created three sound systems (speakers that were designed and built by ourselves) to produce a range of feedbacks (feedback noise) .
SoundCheck was premiered at the Museo Universitario del Chopo as part of PLURAL Meeting of Ibero-American scene and thought in 2019.
Soundcheck/Paisaje (2020) is the second creation of the project [Paisajes Coreo-Sonoros]. A choreo-cimenatic piece where we explore the coexistence between body, sound and forest at the Huitepec Ecological Reserve in San Cristobal, Chiapas, by taking up the objects constructed for the stage version SoundCheck / Prueba <el Sonido>.
SoundCheck / Paisaje was supported and premiered by CONECULTA Chiapas in the framework of Vivo el Arte.
El cuerpo es el mensaje (2021) is the third production of the project [Paisajes Coreo-Sonoros]. This is a choreo-sound installation unfolding three paired systems of antennas, mic and speaker, that are activated by the public and by guest performers. The piece reflects on the impossibility of sending corporalities at a distance, of seeing ourselves primitive and succumb to artificialities that do not support the complexity of bodies, as a metaphor of digital communications.
It was premiered at the Cuatro X Cuatro International Festival in Playas de Rosarito in 2021.
