A piece of synthetic grass becomes the central point from which a body slowly shifts between positions. Can stillness be a form of movement? Can becoming an object be resisted through presence? Pre-position explores the subtle tensions between performer and spectator, object and subject, liveness and stillness. Through minimal actions and sustained presence, the performance reflects on objectification, perception, and the thresholds between action and stillness.
Pre-position was presented in 2019 as part of Movement Research at the Judson Church at Judson Memorial Church in New York City.
